Until a few months ago I had stopped at 5×320# on Back Squats. Why? I don’t really know. It was not a conscious decision; I just wasn’t going any higher. Maybe a part of me was saying, “That’s strong enough”. Maybe I was just being lazy. But the obvious fact is that I was capable of more if I was willing to put it out there. I’ve been going up 5# every month, and today I did 5×340#… on a day when I was pretty fatigued. And I can tell there is more left in the tank.
So take a moment to look at where your current fitness level. Do you believe you have done all of which you are capable? Are your limits real, or self-imposed? Then think again and get after it.
