Avoiding Metabolic Derangement
Just came across an old article on nutrition from The CrossFit Journal. One of the topics is disease causation. The fallacy of the outdated model was that obesity was the cause of hypertension, glucose intolerance, and hypertrygliceridemia. Dr. Kaplan's Deadly Quartet found that obesity is corollary, not causal. Rather, hyperinsulinemia is a more likely cause. It's a great example of why the traditional nutrition models are so off-base.
